*Gov. Eno Sets Modalities for Tree Crop Revolution*
*..Targets 1 Million Seedlings for 6,500 Hectares for Individuals & Families*
🎈Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has unveiled modalities for the full implementation of his administration’s Tree Crop Revolution Programme, a bold step designed to boost and expand the state’s agricultural value chain under the ARISE Agenda .
🎈Speaking during a meeting with the State Agriculture and Food Security Committee at Government House, Uyo, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the Governor announced that the programme will target the cultivation of 1 million tree crop seedlings across 6,500 hectares of farmland.
🎈Governor Eno disclosed that the initiative set to commence in the last quarter of 2025 will target individual and family farm holdings, which can be accessed through a dedicated digital portal. He explained that this approach is intended to encourage inclusivity, giving every interested household the opportunity to participate in the state’s agricultural renaissance.
🎈To further motivate farmers, the Governor assured that the state government will offtake all yields from participating farms. This, he noted, is to guarantee a ready market for farmers’ produce while reducing the risk of post-harvest losses.
🎈Governor Eno stressed that the Tree Crop Revolution is a critical plank of the ARISE Agenda, aimed at strengthening food sufficiency, generating jobs, and enhancing the state’s capacity for agribusiness.
🎈The meeting also reviewed strategies for effective monitoring, sustainability, and partnership with relevant stakeholders to ensure the programme’s success.
